Frequently Asked Questions

A Mezzanine Floor will provide your Business with extra space, as long as you have sufficient height in your Unit, this can be for storage, work stations, or more office space, whatever your business needs to expand. Below we list what we find the most frequently asked questions:-

Q. How much will it cost ?

A. The best way to answer this question, is to ask you go to our contact page, and fill in the requested details shown there, and we will endeavour to get back to you by return, with an exact price against the details you have given us. Each floor size is different, there is no such thing as an “off the peg” Mezzanine Floor, it's an engineered product and as such needs to be calculated properly. The price we quote will include the mezzanine floor installation and will be correct against your details. However, we must always say “subject to our site survey” there are times when our customers with the best will in the world, omit something that has an impact on the final price.

Q. What is the process from me receiving your quotation to installation and completion ?

a) When you receive our quotation, we will answer any queries or questions, and if necessary visit your premises, and make certain we have fully understood your requirements, and that our quotation meets or exceeds your specification.

b) We will then take your order and first stage payment, and agree a day and time for our project engineer to carry out a site survey, this would normally be within the first week.

c) Within the Second week you will receive detailedl working drawings submitted for your signature of approval.

d) We would then move to manufacture and installation, normally two to three weeks from signed approval of our working drawing.

Q. Do I need to obtain Building Regulation approval prior to the installation of my Mezzanine Floor ?

A. No. Providing the plans submitted are a true representation of the work to be carried out and comply with all relevant regulations & current legislation, we can obtain a certificate of compliance; usually within two working days.

Q. I would like the existing floor area under my new mezzanine floor to contain the smallest number of column uprights ?

A. There is always a most economic column grid, and this we can explain, and present to you. We can then price taking out uprights, spanning approx 10 metres in one direction, and 5 to 6 metres in the other direction, giving you a “Bespoke Package” to meet you individual needs.

Q. How long does it take to install my Mezzanine Floor ?

A. We aim to install approximately 60 square metres per day, we assume a clear and level site, with free and clear access.

Q. How will installation affect the running of my business?

A. The area in which the mezzanine floor is to be constructed will be sealed off, while installation takes place, this for obvious health and safety reasons. Work can be scheduled outside normal business hours, but at an increased cost.

Q. Do I need to obtain my Landlords permission?

A. You will need to comply with the terms and conditions of your lease, so almost certainly yes.

Q. How will it affect my business rate?

A. Mezzanine Floors used for storage do not usually attract an increase in business rates, however if used for work stations or new office accommodation these sometimes can.

Q. Are there any additional items I need to be aware of?

A. When we know your specific needs and requirements, we can advise you on additional items that you may not be aware of, that you may need to consider. These include - Fire Protection, emergency lighting, smoke/fire alarms, fire fighting equipment, and relevant signage, introduction of fresh air and/or air conditioning, and central heating. and disabled person’s legislation, and how it will affect your proposed build.
