Main Beam

We also supply enclosed handrail for retail use, this can be in stainless steel and glass, also various steel mesh infills for industrial solutions.

Sliding or up and over gates

Staircase

Range from 900mm wide single flight staircase for storage platforms to 1200mm wide ambulant stairs with mid and top-landings for retail or office environments. Constructed from mild steel stringers with chequer plate treads.

Decking

38mm High Density Particle Board, normally Grade “C”, there are many other grades, non slip, and water resistant etc, again these will attract a greater cost.

Mezzanine Floor Fire Protection

Should the mezzanine be used for means other than storage, depending on the structure size, and usage, it will probably be necessary for the mezzanine floor to have fire protection to at least a one-hour standard rating which will conform to Part B1 of the Building Regulations Act 1991. This also applies should the platform take up more than 50% of the available ground floor area, or is longer than 20 metres in any given direction.

This can be achieved using the following specification

To the complete underside of the mezzanine a One-Hour suspended ceiling needs to be fitted consisting of 1200mm x 600mm white decorative ceiling tiles clipped securely into a vivid white grid system with the main carriers being positioned at 600mm centres and be complete with white angle trim to all perimeters.

All vertical steel columns supporting the mezzanine will be fully encased using a four-sided White PVC “Leather Look” grain, or galvanised column encasement system packed with fire retardant materials to a one hour fire rated standard. All exposed edges of the platform to be fitted with a fascia board, again to 1 hour fire rated standard.

Building Regulations

Building Regulations application and approval is required for all new mezzanine floor installations. PDI will undertake the necessary certification at an extra over cost, shown separately on our quotation. To keep this cost down to a bare minimum, we ask our clients to supply, the following, a block plan, site plan and slab details, of their premises. These details are currently always supplied in the legal “bundle” at the time of purchase, or completing the lease agreement.
